How To Install Your VORASSO Filter

Every VORASSO filter fits by hand. No plumber, no tools beyond an adjustable spanner if a fitting is stiff, and no changes to your pipework. Allow about five minutes.

All our showerheads and hoses use the standard UK 1/2 inch BSP thread, which is what virtually every domestic shower in Britain is built around.

Before you start

  • Turn the shower off at the tap or mixer.
  • Have a towel to hand. A little water is always left in the hose.
  • Check that the rubber washer is seated inside each fitting. Loose or missing washers are the single most common cause of a drip.
  • Tighten by hand only. Overtightening crushes the washer and causes the leak it is meant to prevent.

Wall-mounted filtered showerhead

  1. Unscrew your existing showerhead from the wall arm, turning anticlockwise. Most come away by hand.
  2. Wipe the exposed thread clean of limescale and old tape.
  3. Check the washer is sitting flat inside the VORASSO head.
  4. Screw the VORASSO head onto the arm clockwise until it is firm. Hand tight is correct.
  5. Run the shower for 30 to 60 seconds. The first flush may run slightly discoloured as loose carbon dust clears. This is normal and settles quickly.
  6. Check the joint for drips. If it weeps, back the head off, reseat the washer and retighten.

Handheld filtered showerhead

  1. Unscrew the old handheld head from the hose, turning anticlockwise.
  2. Check the washer is seated inside the hose nut.
  3. Screw the VORASSO handheld head onto the hose clockwise until firm.
  4. Flush for 30 to 60 seconds before first use.
  5. Check both ends of the hose for drips, not just the new joint. Fitting a new head often reveals a tired washer at the wall end.

Faucet filter

  1. Unscrew the aerator from the end of your tap spout, turning anticlockwise. A cloth wrapped around it gives grip without marking the chrome.
  2. Keep the aerator somewhere safe. You will want it back if you move house.
  3. Choose the adaptor from the box that matches your tap thread and fit it to the spout.
  4. Screw the VORASSO faucet filter onto the adaptor clockwise until firm.
  5. Run the tap for 30 seconds to flush the media, then check around the collar for drips.

Faucet filters fit standard threaded spouts. They do not fit pull-out spray taps, sensor taps, or spouts with no thread at all.

Replacing a filter cartridge

Change your cartridge roughly every three months, or sooner if you are in a hard-water area or the flow starts to drop.

  1. Turn the water off.
  2. Unscrew the housing from the head or tap fitting, turning anticlockwise.
  3. Lift out the spent cartridge and dispose of it with household waste.
  4. Drop the new cartridge in the same way round, arrow or flat face towards the inlet.
  5. Check the O-ring is clean and seated, then screw the housing back on hand tight.
  6. Flush for 30 to 60 seconds before use.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
Drip at the joint Unscrew, check the washer is flat and undamaged, refit hand tight. Do not use a spanner to force it.
Weak flow Usually an exhausted cartridge. Fit a fresh one. If the unit is new, check no packaging plug has been left in the inlet.
Cloudy or grey first flush Loose carbon dust from the new media. Run for a minute and it clears.
Thread will not meet Your fitting is not 1/2 inch BSP. Email us a photo and we will tell you which adaptor you need.
